A mash-up of show biz and college

Published September 18, 2012 by francesothomas

As one of the first batch of Avon Addicts, I received Meg Cabot’s book Size 12 and Ready to Rock. I think this is the first of her books I have read, but it won’t be the last.

I was favorably disposed toward the book for two reasons going in. Like the heroine Heather Mills, I work at a college, though blessedly not in a residence hall. Also like Heather, I am well beyond a size 2.  But it is Cabot’s delightfully snarky sense of humor that captured me.

The descriptions of the teenage wannabes, stage moms, college employees, and reality show personnel are well drawn. The hero has his priorities straight, and Heather herself is compassionate and smart.

Can’t wait to read more.
